I am an artist who has just started teaching H.S. Fine Art. We are on a 4 period block schedule, 5 days a week. The classes are 1h 50m. This has both positive and negitive points. The + side is there is a lot of time for the students to work. The - side is that the average attention span of H.S. students (and most of us!) is 20m. I am being generous in this estimate, too. I am concentrating on a formal approach to learning drawing skills and applying them to creative projects. I have found that most students wish they could DRAW better- and I have found that this is not frequently 'taught'. I am searching for all types of projects that will help me in the class. I am in a rural, cash-strapped school system with a small art budget. I do not have computers in my class room, so computer lessons would be out (although I am in the process of begging). I am also looking for a good, cheap source of art slides, perhaps from a school/teacher that no longer uses them. Thanks for your help!
