My three biggest rewards when working with docents are:
1. their rich life experiences from which they can draw,
2. their enthusiasm for and joy of learning and teaching,
3. their dedication to their work in the museums.

My three biggest challenges when working with docents are:
1. to have them realize they already know a lot (and so do their guests)
from their life experiecnes which are relevant to the art works they are
seeing,
2. to help them to recognize on tour when to tell and when to ask guests,
3. to help them to invite interpretations from their groups rather than
impose historical information (when inapproriate) that narrows or closes
the groups' interpretive thinking about works of art.
