Pencils, rubber cement, scissors, x-acto knives, poster board and colored
markers are the most common items that have feet out of the art room at our
high school. It is not a major theft problem but a "borrowing" problem. It is
hard to dispel the attitude that the art rooms are an open supply house for
the school community. Staff and students from other classes are the most
common culprits for materials that disappear. Most the time they ask, and if
I write their names down, or ask for collateral we usually get the materials
back, but too often materials are "borrowed" for other classes without
asking, and then seem to have a very difficult time finding their way back.
