Early Finishers and Middle School

Bunki, Thanks for the great ideas for early finishers. I made your list of topics (collecting photos as starting points) into a matrix that includes, subject matter, composition ideas, and materials & techniques. All on one sheet of photocopy paper there are about 800 possibilities for drawing projects. I'm starting it this term, so I'll let you know how well it works. Also, I am giving a presentation to a group of junior high (soon to be middle school) art teachers on the role of art education in the middle school (as opposed to junior high!). I was wondering if you, or anyone else had some thoughts on how the teaching of art fits into the middle school philosophy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lynn Carr (Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada)
