I teach in Texas (Austin, but Round Rock ISD) and our budget varies
from school to school. I get about $700 per year for just over 600
kids. In my district, we all (elementary art teachers) put together an
art t-shirt to sell for youth art month. The artwork is selected from
student entries and one is chosen each year. We sell the shirts for $6
each, making a profit of about $1.50 - $2.00 per shirt. Whatever money
is made from this sale (each campus does their own sale) goes toward art
enrichment (up to the individual teacher to decide).
This is great for those last minute lesson ideas
where you don't have all the supplies on hand. The only bad part is that
you have to buy it first then get reimbursed, which sometimes takes an
act of God (at least on our campus!).
Good luck! And I must say I am envious of those $8-10 per student
campuses! I would love to see some of what you can do with that much money!!
