Thanks for your help Bunki. I am a graduate student at the University of Wyomingin the college of education. I was a classroom teacher for 15 years and now I'm
hiding out here. Art has always been of personal importance to me though I have
not taken enough to major. I found it to be invaluabe in the elementary class
room. My first year here at UWY I taught the art methods as integrated into the
social studies methods classes for perspective teachers-like the integration
concept but felt art got the shaft in time and importance.
At any rate one of the things I did was to go out to the public schools and ask
teachers how they taught art in the elementary classroom. Got this amazing res-
ponce of -They don'
t. So I said well, how to you use art. Then I got a great list, for evaluation,to enhance learning, in support of problems solving and synthezing skills on and
on, so now I am trying to write my masters on the use of art in the elementary
classroom and can find nothing that is not written by art educators, which is
really a different take. I support and believe in a substantive art program
but I want to know what educators have done with art and the creative process
within their rooms. I just can't find anything. Any ideas?
As to my computor, I wander from lab to lab here on campus using whatever. I'm
thinking of getting a modum on my mac at home but I haven't yet.
So how long have you been teaching at the middle school level? Thats quit the
age to be with. Thanks Zanna
