In response to Debbie Gardner's inquiry below, one study that comes to
mind is by Dr. Jan Norman at the University of the Arts (Chair, Art Ed
Dept, 320 South Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19102). Her study "The
Effectiveness of An Integrated Arts Program on Students' Academic
Achievement," to quote the abstract, "...tested the impact of the
integrated arts program, Learning Through the Arts, on students' scores
on standardized academic achievement tests in language arts and
mathematics..."

If I think of others, I'll let you know. I'm interested to hear what
resources/studies others know of.

Greetings! from flood zone Phoenicia, NY. My teachers have asked that I
inquire about the following: are there any resources to obtain information
on how art education in elementary schools helps mainstream, gifted
and/or regular ed. students; or how it helps support classroom work. A
study would be best, but magazine articles will do just fine.
