To all on line at ARTS ED NET TALK
I am a new teacher at a university in Hong Kong. I will teach in the design dept
on the art and design education B.A. Hons Degree. All my students are Hong Kong
Chinese, they are all certified teachers most of them certified art teachers,
and have been teaching in the local HK Chinese schools primary and secondary for
2 plus years (some for over 20yrs). I have to teach the history of art and
design education, I can use western educational information, so having been
educated in the USA I can use the USA for resource material. The course runs
lecture followed by seminar followed by lecture etc. I can use co operative
learning, discussions, presentations infact what ever I like, each meeting is 2
hours and I have 30 students. I have 7 lectures and 7 seminars. The problem what
topic areas in the history to select, how to teach the course, and how to make
it meaningful to the students. IDEAS PLEASE
The second problem I have to teach 15 hours of printmaking to the students, I
have one press and 12 rollers and 15 pieces of plexiglass for monoprinting, I
have 5 tubes of ink. This is a studio unit and designed so that they might
explore their own art work. The topic area is a visual exploration of the self.
Again what to teach and how to make it worthwhile. IDEAS PLEASE.
Thank you in anticipation.
