We are extremely sorry for this unfortunate occurance.

Many of you had their mailbox filled up, and may experience some delay
in even reading this note.

The problem was that one of our subscribers (former subscriber now,
out of necessity) is somehow using a mail system that is not compliaint
with Internet Standards for email (RFC 822). It was sending error messages
TO THE GROUP, instead of to the owner of the group.
(to "Reply-To:" instead of "Sender:" or "From")

When their mailbox was no longer accessible, the errors went to the
group; when the error bounced again back at the same subscriber's
mailbox, *that* was sent again to the group, and so on.

We had not forseen this kind of thing happening when we changed
the reply mode of the list so that the default was to reply to everyone.

We have converted the list back so that the automatic default is to
simply reply to the sender of the message being replied to. Most
mail software has a "Reply to group" or "Include everyone" option
so that everyone (in this case artsednet) is sent
the response. Should your software lack this feature, simply
add a "Cc:" of "artsednet" so that everyone will
get a copy.

We have unsubscribed those of you who have asked that we do that, and hope
that those of you who have will reconsider. We will do everything possible
to prevent this kind of thing happening again.

Please accept our deepest apologies.
