[teacherartexchange] shrinking budget

---------

As a teacher I've always been sort of a pack rat for free, interesting stuff that art can be made with. This past year I have seriously been researching artists that use recyled materials to create amazing works of art. In this day and age of both global environmental problems and economic woes, what a great time to offer a class that would promote both the arts and conservation to your eighth graders. And the cost for materials should be free.
Currently I am making objets d'arte from plastic bags. I cut the bags into strips, braid them, and sew them together on my sewing machine with a zig zag stitch. This is just one example. I am also in the process of creating a multimedia digital slide show to promote recyled art. When I am finished with it I will be happy to share it or post a link to it on this website.
