You are right on in my opinion. I have a hard time blaming them,
knowing that many students often have little to no art education in the
elementary years (at least here in CA). The creativity has been
squelched before it was able to develop. I teach at a school that three
years ago put the arts in the title and this is the first year I really
see students not afraid to take chances and just naturally developing
their own ideas.
