I would love to see an art program, period, in our
elementary schools. I teach junior high school in
Chandler, AZ and there is NO art program in the
elementary schools. What they do have is called "Art
Masterpiece" and they have parent volunteers come in
to the classrooms once a month, if that much. They
show the students a Master work of art and then have
them recreate it. So the first time my students have
any formal art program is in 7th grade!
