As part of a school wide grant for an outdoor classroom, my middle school
art students are going to create mosaics on a birdbath and on outdoor
benches. I have located a simple birdbath and benches at an ornamental concrete
store which I think will serve our purpose.
I need help with tile selection and sources. What type of tile should we
purchase? What size? Can anyone recommend a tile source that isn't too
expensive? What considerations do we need to make for a work of art that needs to
withstand the elements?
On the benches we will probably do butterflies or something simple with a
solid background. I am thinking about irregular shaped tiles, not too small,
with a solid color background.
Maybe we'll use smaller tiles on the birdbath with a simple color pattern.
