While we art teachers often feel as though we are at the margins of
education, occasionally recognition does come.
Diane Jaquith, an elementary art teacher in Newton, MA, has been
recognized by the National Education Association Foundation for
teaching excellence. Nominated by the Massachusetts Teacher's
Association, she was selected for her effective instruction, advocacy
for public education, her commitment to diversity and her engagement of
both parents and her community. Diane is a tireless advocate for the
importance of good art teaching in schools and we are thrilled to see
her work noticed by the National Education Association.
