I did a color wheel assignment with fifth graders that you can "upgrade"
for eighth. They came out really cute. Each student designed a simple
motif--I remember a "bubble'" letter, an ice cream cone, gift packages,
puppies--and cut it out of tagboard or old file folders. They traced
the pattern six times in a circle on heavy sulfite, making sure they
were paired opposite each other. Then they painted them with their
primaries and secondaries, and traced over the outlines with Sharpies
after the paint dried.
