[teacherartexchange] NAEA panel opportunity

---------

Dear teachers,

I am writing to find out if any of you who are attending the NAEA conference this year would be interested in participating in a panel on Internet resources for students.

I work with teacher audiences at the Getty Museum, and I'll be presenting with a representative from MOMA and a representative from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts's ArtsEdge. We're looking for one elementary or secondary teacher who:

1) is currently teaching
2) has considered and/or used interactive online resources with students
3) has an informed opinion about the use of Internet technologies in the classroom and can speak thoughtfully about this subject

For the teacher, participation in the panel involves a brief statement about his or her use of Internet resources in the classroom and participation in a Q&A with the panel.

Here are specifics about the presentation:

Title: Web Resources for Students: Institutional Goals, Classroom Reality
Date: Thursday March 27, 2008
Time: 5:00 PM to 5:50 PM
Location: CONV CTR Room 218
Description: Arts institutions continue to develop dynamic online resources for students. But how are students and teachers using these resources? What is the impact of interactives, blogs, and podcasts on student learning? Are institutions meeting teachers' needs? This panel will bring together teachers who utilize online resources in classroom instruction with art educators from the Museum of Modern Art, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and the John F. Kennedy Center's ARTSEDGE. Representatives from arts institutions will share their newest web offerings for students and reveal their goals for learning outcomes. Then classroom teachers in the audience and on the panel will share what kinds of online resources they find most useful in meeting their curricular goals and which resources their students find most engaging.

If you're interested in participating, please send an email to teacherprograms@getty.edu as soon as you can (no later than Tuesday, January 15). In this email, please state why you're interested in the panel and describe any relevant experiences or expertise regarding this topic.

Best,
Theresa Sotto
