I am at a middle school in MIchigan. We have 9 weeks of art for sixth
graders, every day and the same amount for 7th graders only spread out
thru one semester. In 8th grade all are electives. They can take one
semester, everyday or the 'Honors" class which meets everyday all year
long. Successful conpletion of this class lets them skip freshman art
at the high school. And we think, it will fulfill the requirement for
fine arts for graduation. The state has just set new requirements, so
we are not sure about this yet. This honors class is the exception
around this area and is very popular.
