Hi,
Yes, I do have a suggestion or two for replacements.

For basic image editing and special effects filters there's great piece
of free software called PhotoFiltre.

http://www.photofiltre.com/

If you would like to work with something that is more along the lines of
Photo Shop but much less expensive, try Paint Shop Pro. It is now
called Paint Shop Pro Photo Suite XI. I bought it recently for about
$50.

I've used Paint Shop Pro for years and really like it as a great
alternative to Photo Shop. When I had the middle school computer lab,
this is what we used.

Thanks,

Subject: [teacherartexchange] photoshop suggestions

Hello,

I was hoping to get a suggestion for a replacement for photoshop - I
have been running 6.0 on my PC, but just got a mac - hooray! While I
only use photoshop for a few things and certainly not to its full
potential - I miss it already.

I mainly need something for editing personal photos
and for one school project which is an Andy Warhol
portrait - I take the kids pictures and then swtich
them to grayscale, turn the contrast way up and print
them 4-up to a page for them to alter with colored
pencils (a variation on a lesson from the Andy Warhol
museum). In any case, I was wondering if someone had
a photoshop replacement suggestion (I can't afford the
new photoshop right now) or if anyone has a
suggestion for an easier way to do these portraits I
would appreciate it. Its terribly time consuming to
edit all the pictures, but the kids love this project
so much!!!!!

Thanks!
