It is fun to talk to the children about how many artists learned
their skills and trade in the past--through many years of hard work
and drudgery in the apprentice system! So I called my students
"apprentice artists" and part of their learning was in taking care
of "their master's studio." Jobs were fashioned according to
their age level--including Kindergarten and special populations.
Yes, it may take a while to set up, but with games and rewards, the
children learned to value all aspects of the art making experience.
Now, if only I could find an "apprentice student" at OSU to do my
stone graining in lithography..... :-)

PS Another idea--older students can learn to do a grid room plan and
make suggestions for how to manage the facilities for the furniture,
etc. Math and geometry skills can be applied here.
