Hi Terri,
My HS ART 1's may not have had art since 5th grade, so we spend 1st sem.
drawing and 2nd on painting/color.
I ALWAYS start out with a monochromatic project - to me, and the kids, it
makes sense to explore 1 color first. Regardless of the subject which
changes from year to year we begin with one color (usu. watercolors now),
diluting to make tints, then adding light and dark analagous colors, the
complement, and black.
They really seem to get it this way! I have some online albums of different
projects that follow this format - let me know and I'll send you the links.
