hello everyone,
i would like to hear your views on this topic because my district is in
the process of restructuring grade levels and considering what kinds of
specials to offer at the 5th and 6th grade levels. currently our
schools are k-6, 7/8 and 9-12 but beginning next year this will be
replaced with 4 levels: k-4, 5/6, 7/8, and 9/12. currently all k-6
students get 45 min of art once a week.
there is a committee of principals and central office admins deciding
how to divide up the 6 special slots at the 5/6 level. music, PE, art,
foreign language, and technology teachers have each presented plans for
their respective areas. although we requested 1 full year of regular
art plus 1 semester of computer art, one of the very likely scenarios
is that these students will be offered 1 semester of each. i would
appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. thanks,
