Marsh-
I'm a High School teacher, also, looking for the same "idea exchange" you
seem to want.
Since my kids may not have had elective art classes in middle school, it's
easier for me to start with the basics and build from the ground up. My
first year students are in portraiture, just placing features on frontal
views, but coming along nicely. I'm finishing up pointillism, then cross
contour drawing with my second year students and was surprised to find that
they enjoyed pointillism, but got frustrated with cross contour. (I thought
the pointillism tapping was going to drive my fourth-year and AP students
crazy!:-) I let them do a watercolor wash over the pointillism and this
really gave them an "illustrated" look that pleased everyone. (I have no
budget, but loving kids!)
What kind of wonderful projects are going on in your classroom?
