I just realized I spent the entire day on this dang computer. Even though I
have been grant writing and working on next week's lessons it still feels
like a waste of a day!
I don't know the laws where you are from, but in Kansas the superintendant
can give you the ok (can't think of the proper vocabulary here) to teach for
3 years while you get your certificate. Doesn't your current contract go
until the end of the school year? If so, I would assume as long as your
teaching certificate was up to date when you sign your new contract you
would be ok.

I have never taken an internet course, but would be interested in seeing
what is available. :-)

I started my first (personal) website back in 1996. Then I started my
website for my art lessons, which led to my creating my city's webpage, and
now I am webmaster of my school's webpage as well as teach a high school web
page design course. Not sure how they all snuck up on me, but I enjoy them.
I basically began my first one as a learning experience. I wanted to learn
how to do it. I started with Geocities, which is much more user friendly
now. If you are wanting to learn I suggest you open up your free account and
then just play around with it. Geocities has a decent beginners program
built into their site, and I start my students off with this. You learn to
upload pictures, format the page, insert backgrounds, create hyperlinks,
etc. Then, once you have the basics figured out then you can do the same
things on several free programs (or programs that are easily available). To
teach my students a wide variety of programs, after they understand
Geocities we create pages using Microsoft Word (just save as .html),
Netscape Composer (I like the fact that you can work visually or with the
coding), and then Front Page.
