[teacherartexchange] Product Preferences

---------

It is time that I finalize my orders to put my budget to use.

I have a pretty good amount to spend at the county warehouse, and also an
amount--not great, but decent, that I can spend on outside sources.

I am shopping for elementary students--the lower grades, to be precise. So
here are my specific questions:

Which crayons do you prefer and why? Also: can anyone speak with experience
on the performance of Prang regular crayons versus Fun Pro, which is a soy
crayon? Would one be better for making scratchboard than the other?

Which markers do you prefer and why? (I am not talking permanent--I'm
talking water-base.) I'm looking for a juicy, long-life conical, chisel, or
bullet-tiped marker, not the skinny ones.

Which oil pastel do you prefer and why? Is there much difference between
brands?

Is there any brand of air-dry clay that you find acceptable/preferable?

Do you find much use for watercolor pencils or watersoluable crayons at the
elementary level? If so, do you have a brand preference? Can you suggst any
particular projects that put these to really great use?

As for paints, I tend to use Alphacolor Biggie tempera cakes. Is there any
particular reason I should invest in dry tempera as well? (If so, which
brand?) What about liquid tempera?

I do not have decent watercolor pan sets...again, any specific brand you'd
recommend? I would want to replace specific color pans as they run out.

Can anyone recommend a certain gauge of metal foil sheets for repousse with
younger students? Can you recommend an economical source?

Thanks for any responses!
Amy

P.S. I ordered my Greg Percy CDs today--all 4! My son and
daughter--kindergarten and 2nd grader--were lovin' the samples they heard on
his website; they kept asking to hear more. These are my gift to myself in
celebration of my first paycheck in over 7 years.
