I think those toilet paper tubes multiply like rabbits in my store room. I
do a lesson with 1st grade early in the year that reviews some of the
elements and gives them scissors pracice. They make shape puppets which I
hot glue to a paper towel tube and write their names on the bottom with
markers. They love doing puppet shows crouched under the edge of the
table. They even name the puppets -Circle Man or whatever. That uses up
100 or so.
I also did a construction lesson last year when kdg. was doing a recycle
unit. I put out boxes of stuff including pipe cleaners and yarn. I did
some hot gluing for problem connections but they were pretty good about
figuring out to join things. This was later in the year so they had some
skills. They came up with some great things. I have some photos in their
portfolios if anyway is interested.
I sent some photos to the person who is interested in doing clay head
sculptures. As Judy mentioned they aren't on my website anymore. I can
send those off list if anyone is interested.
