I walk my students through the steps on making a hollow sphere which becomes
the head. Then take a chunk of clay and form it to become the shoulders, a
thick coil becomes the neck. Then attach the three pieces and scoop out some
clay from the shoulder area and go clear through to the head to insure there
is an opening in the enclosed sphere. Then I give a quick demo on how "I"
put facial features on, and then turn them loose to personalize them.
