Something similar happened when I was trying to put my mail on hold
before I left for the holidays. It had never asked for a password in
order to do this in the past, and I was worried about coming home to
1000 messages in my mailbox. Fortunately, the mail hold went through
anyway even though I couldn't enter a password. It asked again when I
requested that I receive messages again, but I ignored it and,
obviously, I'm getting mail again.
Check to see if you are indeed getting the digest after all. This is
some Lyris glitch.
