Congratulations that's awesome. What a great article.

Now.....can I brag about hardworking students also??!? First a little background.

Our regional Scholastic awards were just completed. Young Audience was unable to continue sponsoring our region and last year we had to send work in individually as a Region at Large. Our state association applied for a received a 3 year sponsorship opportunity for the Northwest Oregon region (Portland area counties). 430+ works were entered (highest yet) and less than 10% receive Gold Keys.

I am happy to say that two of my students were recognized with Honorable Mentions and 1 with a Silver Key.

Also, one received a Gold Key. As such the work will go on to the national level for judging. That piece also received an American Visions Award nomination (of the 39 Gold Keys from our region 5 were chosen for this recognition as "best of show" -4 high schoolers and my 7th grader!!) She also received a scholarship to a Summer class at Oregon College of Arts and Crafts!!

Scholastic is an amazing venue of kids and one of the few of this caliber for middle school students. If you haven't, look into it.
