I'm so glad you posted this, because
I have one of these students too. He has been working on this deo game for two years with beautifully drawn characters, story lines, architecture, and maps but can barely get my assignments done, or whips through them so he can get back to his "real" work. The other kids are so impressed with him, which doesn't help! Even another teacher said this is the kind of kid who will leave school and make a million dollars with his game, but really, how realistic is that? I've even encouraged him to start keeping his game work in some kind of portfolio, but he just keeps it all on one giant clipboard. I am going to start an AP studio class next year but am afraid I would have to turn this kid down if he applies. So I will read everyone's replies with interest!
