Interesting situation. Perhaps you could avoid the problem by suggesting that
their pop icons need to be people who have risen above other popular icons by
meeting the test of time. Marilyn Monroe and Elvis had been on the scene for
quite a while and were bigger than life stars and people all over the world,
both young and old were familiar with their contributions and life. Teenagers
and adults were fascinated by them. Just a thought :-)
