Many thanks to Judy for mentioning the Crystal Productions catalog and in
particular "Dropping in on Andy Warhol." This is the fifth in the series.
For those of you who are not familiar with the series, this is something Jim
McNeill and I started when I was an elementary art specialist. I was
bemoaning not having art videos suitable for the youngest learners. In my
estimation, the available videos were either too mature in content or they
had a tendency to be little more than silliness. When I mentioned this to
Jim, he was just learning to create animation and we decided to try our hand
at making an art video. Our first artist to "drop in on" was Henri Rousseau.
The success of the video led to a book and one thing led to another.
I mention this to remind you that Crystal Productions listens to art
educators. If you have a need, let them know. When enough teachers express
the same needs, often resources can be created.
I have a page on my personal website if you would like to submit a name for
a future "Dropping in on" candidate.

There are certain criteria that we have to follow, so it's not as simple as
saying we want so and so artist.
1. The artist or the artist's foundation must be reasonable; that is, the
cost of permissions for images cannot be cost prohibitive. It is always nice
if the artist or foundation is pleasant to deal with, too.
2. It is mandatory that the artist have some sort of quirky personality
trait that lends itself to animation.
3. The artist needs to have wide appeal.
4. The artwork needs to be kid-friendly.
If you are visiting my website, take a moment to look at the School Arts
trip. Click on Travel to read about it. Six spaces are remaining available.
From sunny Sedona,
