[teacherartexchange] Oaxacan sculptures questions

Hi Everyone
I'm working on a 3D unit for 3rd grade. We are going to see some of the
Oxacan sculptures (they are just completing a pattern project so I like the
tie-in) I would like them to build an animal sculpture with wood pieces and
paint them in a style similar to the Oaxacan pieces. I think I remember
other people talking about a lesson that they did like this. Does anyone
have any tips as we begin? How did you attach the wood pieces together?
Did you put a coat of paint on before assembly? Any other ideas would be
greatly appreciated!
