I had a class of low achievers one year. It was just how the schedule worked
out that year - I called them my office kids, because invariably I would see
at least one of them sitting in the office waiting to see the principal
daily. I totally changed my curriculum that semester, focusing more on my
survival! I assigned projects completely upon what I thought they would
enjoy and keep them busy, because when they are busy they are not causing
trouble. We didn't do alot of drawing. We did projects more like surrealist
collages (they seem to like flipping through old magazines looking for
pictures), pantyhose sculptures, plaster masks, etc. I was SO glad when that
year was over! Realize your year too will end and that those groups of kids
don't come along often.
