I agree with Peggy, Relationship is important. I was forewarned about a
hard group of 6h grade students coming around thanksgiving. They rotate
every 7 weeks. I stood at the door and greeted each student. Once in and
seated by me. I asked them what type of environment helped them learn
best. They brain stormed a good list. Next I asked them who is in
control of their behavior. They came to a consensus that it was
themselves. As they drew with no talking for 15 minutes, I went around
the room and asked personal questions and got to know them. The class
was not perfect for the 7 weeks but one of the teachers in a prior
rotation, who had them could not believe they were the same kids.

think the subject of art is the most important thing in the world--I do,
and the teaching of art takes many forms.
