Assessing and grading are two different things -
go back to Linda's elementary report cards - what does an 'A' really tell
you? And the timeline we in the US use to report grades - really goes
against the idea of development doesn't it? Every 6 weeks you have to give
a progress report - I would rather have three well constructed sentences
about my children (a strength, a need and a goal?) than straight 'A's on any
report card - I hate them. Always have.
Something diagnostic - how we do that with the number of kids we see? I
don't know - even a standards-based report card (which we have gone through
several versions for the past 12 years isn't the answer)
