Kids Should NOT Fail Art......

Greetings ArtsEdNetters,

You should never fail a kid just because he/she can
not do a certain step....Find a way to get past that
point so the student can move on. I liked what
Michelle posted on making whistles.

5. Make an extra whistle for the child who has tried
several times, squished the clay the death and needs
to move on...

Getting the whistle to whistle should not be your
primary goal for this lesson. Make the fun part - the
creative part be more important. Another way to get
them to whistle is to hire "whistle experts" (kids who
get it) to go around and help other students. Some
kids just get it right away. (Don't worry about
"germs" - but I think you can cup your hand around the
mouth piece and blow instead of placing your mouth
directly on it)

I am adding Michelle' words to the Why I Like My Job
page, too.

Comments from kids:
I never liked art or was good at it in elementary, I
love it now and I'm good at it

After I say "Bye - Have a great day" a voice said
"every day is a great day in art"

What can YOU do to make every kid "good" in art?
I think I will get that page of ideas going after I
get the Best Gig in Town page done.

We haven't heard from Justin Kramer for a while....I
hope he is still out there. Here is the link to his
whistle file.
