It seems to me...you would have the best position by going with the full time
job. I am sure it would be great! I travel and share a room with 3 other
teachers...It is mainly the art room, but there is always the extra time spent
to clean and organize and leave things as I left it for the other teachers.
Sometimes those you work with will not be as courteous. But
science....wow...with 3 other teachers...not mainly your room?
Yes, part time teachers are sacrificed for the good of the whole. By not
taking the full time job, an administrator can interpret you as saying, "art is
not that important, my job is not that important, I am happy to do it part
time"...even if that is not what you really mean. Very few art teacher would not
jump at the chance at at a full-time job, regardless of the circumstances.
However, you have to do what is right for you. It seems that whatever is going
to happen, things are no longer going to be as they were...so perhaps you
should make the choice that will give you the most freedom to run your program
the way you want. (sharing a room with 3 other teachers does not provide you
with very much freedom!)
