marketing personal artwork

hi,

need some advice on online places to submit my own
artworks for people to (hopefully!) purchase. just
want to do something simple to test the waters, so to
speak. not trying to make lots of $ or go big-scale.
would like to hear about experiences of other art
teachers who have done this. has anyone submitted
work to cafepress, art.com, or other sites? what
happened? good/bad/not worth the effort? am wanting
to start with photos first, then paintings, all
natural/botanical themes.
