I am REALLY musically challenged but who cares...The kids certainly
don't and they actually tell me I CAN sing...haaaaaa. My husband and
daughter find great humor in this.

"Whadda' ya' know about Vincent Van Gogh?
He painted a picture called the Starry Night
And it's Alllll Righhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhttttt
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

on the yeahhhhhhhh part the kids stand up
and throw out their hands.... "mammie style"
It's a HOOT and the parents tell me they sing it at home.

It's SHORT - but effective....

I would love to hear some of the silly songs...

Last year I had the 5th and 6th graders write a song about the art
lements - we adapted: "there was an old lady who swallowed a fly" -
and -
"when the saints came marching in" it drug on a bit too long, but they
do
know the elements

I also use sing-songs for classroom management - mine goes:

When you come into the art room- put your bottom in a chair!
Sit and wait for your instructions - Lots of fun is happening there...

I had been given the option of doing "art on a cart" or converting the
loading dock/garage into a classroom, it pains me to have to have the
kids
stay in their seats - but it is the only way to keep our 21' x 19' room
safe

so, we have prices for classes that sit on their bottoms! I actually
used to
teach the kindergartners my song, until the high school kids overheard
it
and made too much fun of it!

oh well - I have to remind my self that the option is a cart...
