In response to Peggy's email, I too am rethinking my motives for having
taught AP. I had a good track record with passing. But those kids who want to go
on and make it a profession find if they choose art institutions rather than
the state schools, that the AP was not accepted at the school. Has anyone else
had the same experience?
I too, find the kid's motivation lacking if they just take it for "honors
credit". The ones who love and LIVE art enjoy the experience and work hard at it.
However, over the years on this net, I have read the AP teacher's comments on
how hard it is to "keep them going" to complete the portfolio. Is IB getting
a better response from the students?
