I did the year book for our school for three years. I looked at a lot of different companies who offer packages. I will note that I do have a printing and graphics background. I opted to produce our yearbook independently. It gave us COMPLETE control over scheduling, layout, quantities, everything. If there is someone available to you with any kid of printing experience, this is so much easier that dealing with the confines of a big company.

Just in the last 3 years advancements on the commercial printing end have made it possible to do complete digital printing, directly from Quark Layouts. We had a local photographer give us digital photos on a CD, did a batch transfer to Tif formats, made templates for the class pictures... and did some wild collage pages in Photoshop.

It was a tremendous about of work, but the result was 100% ours, the kids learned a ton. I would do it again, but my hours were cut - so they are on their own again, but it worked well while it worked!
