One of my former students just got a an art teaching job in Denver this
year! Small world. This prompts me to check up and see how she is doing.
I invited her to join the getty list but I am not sure if she has signed on
with us.

                               Art teacher, K-5, retired

Denver (Colorado) passed a mil levy last year that re-instates the arts
(drama, music, dance, & visual arts) at the elementary level. It opened up
an unprecedented 300+ jobs in arts education. (Hence my move from NM to
CO)....anyway, the jobs are secure (as long as Denver-ites pay taxes, these
positions will exist). The money is strictly for the arts - we can NOT be
replaced by/for the "core" subject teachers.

Most positions have been filled, but things are due to shift and settle
after the first year (people leaving, etc)....there are still (some)
positions to be had...and it's a fantastic opportunity to get in on a
program during its fledgling years. For more info visit DPSK12.org...and
click through to the arts department.
