Marvin,
You have a very good point here that set me thinking! BTW,I do list a bit of
observational drawing in my scope & sequence.

I felt I was too detailed from what I observed in my web search. I had
developed an S&S with 3 columns. Column one was the name of the basic art objective
(the art element, principle or skill), Column two was the lesson objective in
one sentance and 3 was comments (a place to add explanations that may clarify
the objective.

My search yielded too many variable styles of scope and sequence and made me
wonder if it is more for the administration rather than the teacher. I don't
like to be boxed in by specifics. I change lessons every year but the skills
and the principles usually remain the same. I like to go with the flow of what
happens in my classroom. Many times in the midst of a lesson, a student will
come up with an idea or a question that triggers another creative process and
the whole lesson gets altered by new ideas. I love this type of creative
thinking and we need to see more of this in our classrooms.

Marsha
