Just before Christmas I received a $250 grant as a Conoco Phillips "art scholar". It was totally unexpected. I knew I had received a scholarship to attend the amazing Fall Art Institute at Quartz Mountain but didn't know which agency had provided it. Conoco-Phillips gave $250 to 40 of the teachers to whom they had provided scholarships, in order for them to teach a unit on the art discipline they had studied at the Institute. I took Acrylic Landscape Painting with James Winn (his work can be found on Google Image).
SO -- this week, the day I had my Dick Blick order all filled out, their new sale catalog arrived - 70% off on the very paint I was going to order!!!! So, I was able to purchase a total of $319 worth of more painting supplies, how AWESOME is that??? I'm going to teach a few weeks after school with my art club and any other of my students who are interested, rather than the whole population, and have enough for next year. I have no easels unfortunately.
I think I will use plastic takeout containers with damp sponges inside for palettes, so it might stay moist week to week.
