<<My beloved black Chinese Pug dog, Olive, was hit by a vehicle and died
immediately the night before last. In my quest for healing through
things that have personal meaning to me and my family, I have discovered
beautiful things. >>

<<P. S. I would be interested to hear how anyone else has creatively
dealt with grief. Thanks.>>

I am so sorry about the loss of your wee doggie..... I, too, am an
animal lover and currently have 7 indoor cats and 2 indoor dogs. Most
nights all nine of them can be found sleeping in my room.

When my soulmate kitty, Cica, died at the age of 20+ I knew I wanted to
do something special to honor her memory. I'd buried her in my back
yard and later that spring I created a special garden over and around
her grave. It became even more special when I was able to find a St.
Francis statue that included a cat:

And while I knew I could never replace her, her death led me to become
involved with various breed-specific animal rescue organizations. I've
adopted four Siamese kitties in the years since her death, and while I'm
at my limit (and probably beyond!), I'm as active as I can be in
promoting and supporting Siamese Rescue and animal charities. All for
the love of one little blue-eyed cat.....

Most of the time I vent strong emotions via writing, but several years
ago when a long-term relationship ended suddenly, badly and without
warning, I found release through the creation of a small Sculpey
figure. It was harsh, disturbing and not at all like the "pretty" art I
usually make, but it was what I "needed" to do at the time.

About a year later, I destroyed the sculpture (and wrote a poem &
photoshopped the method of its demise) and that was healing, too.

It sounds like everything you've done thus far has helped you cope with
the loss of Olive, and I think that it's wonderful that your students
got to know you a little better as a person and that they also had the
opportunity to share their feelings. Again, my sincerest condolences,
{{{Kathleen}}}.
