My pets are like children to me. I am sorry for your loss and know how
difficult it can be. So nice that you found a nice way to memorialize
Olive. I have a story that might warm your heart. My first dog was a
dog named Blacky. She came to us as a stray and had pups the next
morning. It was 6 and got to see them be born. Blacky disappeared one
day when she was 14, never to be seen again. Just wandered off, I
think. It was so sad. I had a horse at the time and rode all over
creation looking for her. Well, years went by and more pets came and
went. In a ceramics class I was taking about 20 years ago, I made a
covered jar and painted dancing black dogs around it, made a black
handle lid in the shape of a black dog. I called it, "Eulogy for
Blackie and Other Nomads". It was a very large urn. Two of our later
pets ashes found their way into that urn when we lost them and had to
have them cremated. The urn is in my living room on a shelf. It has
room for a few more very special pets if need be. Whoever goes first,
my husband or I, will take the ashes of the pets with us. I totally
understand how you feel and offer my sincere condolences.
