Hi Nnaell,
One favorite lesson I did with K was a relief sculpture with paper tubes
cut (by me on the paper cutter) into various sizes of ring shapes. We
learned about the art of Louise Nevelson. The students dipped the edges of
the rings into glue then arranged and set them on a flat piece of cardboard.
After the glue was dry we painted them in various color schemes, depending
on the theme focus for the year. The year we did an ancient Greek/Rome
unit, we painted the sculptures to look like ancient ruins. I showed them
pictures of the past and present Acropolis and played a recording of
Beethoven's "The Ruins of Athens."
