I agree with Sid...tell your student she can not copy faces from other
materials. She CAN take her own images and use them, but the other images
belong to someone else..someone else 'composed' those photos, someone else
"chose" those images, someone else 'made aesthetic judgements'. AP wants to
see what she can do on her own. Also, it is "way" harder (to use the
students' vernacular) to draw from life than to draw from photos. She should
challenge herself to work from life models as well.
As for her idea it may be too broad, and she might want to rethink that one
as well, particularly if she is now given the task to work from "scratch".
