This work is encaustic and collage....but you can do
the lesson in acrylic and maybe some oil paint
textural interest over acrylic base painting.
You can use this Jasper Johns painting with Ken
Schwab's Abstract Art Lesson and Pam Wellington's
Photo Transfer Mixed Media lesson.
The left side of the work reminds me of a map....What
if you used maps in your lesson? Paint the maps with
acrylics - then do some scraping over them through oil
paint for textural interest? Just an idea.....
OR....maps could be colored heavily with oil pastels -
then painted with a dark shade - and paint scratched
off for interest. Maybe main lines of map outlined
with glue so they would show up under paint?
