Rewards? Punishment? All this discussion reminds me of a funny comic panel
of two young boys doing an after school cleaning of the chalkboard erasers
and they are comparing the reasons with looks of bewilderment on their
faces. The one boy says to the other, "You're cleaning erasers because you
have been bad?....I am cleaning erasers because I have been good!"

    So many interpretations, so much fun and so hard to be consistent!
